ODP 90 Regional 1 (USA)

ODP 90 Regional 1 (USA) was the first team to participate in the TOP TRAINING BRASIL program, on April of 2007. During 8 days, under the technical supervision of the CBF and in coordination with their own coaching staff, the group followed a training program specially tailored to achieve specific objectives.

During the first part of the trip to Rio de Janeiro, ODP 90 stayed at Hotel Marina – Leblon beach – where they trained and practiced beach soccer. The group visited the world famous Corcovado and was able to appreciate the wonderful aerial view of Rio de Janeiro and its beaches.

During their stay in Teresopolis, ODP had full access to all of Granja Comary’s facilities, played a friendly match against the top Women’s Brazilian National Team (Finalist of FIFA’s World Cup-China 2007) maintained several training sessions, practiced indoor soccer and had the opportunity to enjoy the placid beauty of the beautiful Comary grounds.

On April 18th the group experienced yet another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to when they played the a Copa Libertadores de America preliminary match at the Maracana Stadium (Flamengo beat Real Potosí). The preliminary Libertadores match had the ODP 90 play against CEPE-Caxias, the top ranked Brazilian Women’s team.

ODP 90 coaching staff agrees Top Training Brazil was the most wonderful soccer program they have ever attended. The ODP 90 team had the opportunity to learn from the best at the unique Granja Comary. And they took full advantage of this occasion. It also was an experience which they will never forget, as they has the chance to meet and play against the Brazilian National and the top ranked Brazilian women’s teams and play a soccer game at the mystical Maracana Stadium!

WOW, WHAT A TRIP!!! I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved with the trip for the parts they played ... Charlotte and Region 1 for providing the opportunity for these international events, Jeff and Lisa for their outstanding leadership and coaching, Andy for being there to look after all the little bumps and bruises, Eric and Claudio and the guys from CBF for putting together an absolutely unbelievable experience for the girls, the parents for helping to make this opportunity a reality, and above all, the players for the professional manner in which they conducted themselves all week. The things we were able to see and experience, the camaraderie we developed within the group throughout the week and the new Brasilian friends we made will make this a trip that I’m sure the girls (and the staff) will remember for a long, long time!So, thanks again to everyone for making this trip so special. I’ll be in touch again soon.

I am wearing their jersey all the time now....I need to get their shorts and socks soon. :)
